Phenomenon: Polar bears live near water and ice.

Engage: Show the students a picture or video of a polar bear in its natural habitat, the Arctic. Provide a two-column chart: Noticing/Wondering

Encourage some of the following questions:

- Where does the polar bears live?
- Why do polar bears have white fur?
- What do polar bears eat?

Put students into groups and have them create a model of the polar bear using chart paper.
